Interview with

First goes first: Sylwia, tell us a bit about yourself please.
My name is Joanna Sylwia Stramkowska - Hanke (I know this is a long name hahaha ...).
Here on dA I'm Sylwia77. Art was always present in my home. Artistic talent inherited from my dad. He taught me everything.
How did you start with photomanipulations? What did attract you to this kind of art?
I am a graduate of computer graphics, that's where it all began. In school I started doing my first photomanipulation. I still have that one... it's terrible haha... Photomanipulations: this is a simple and fast form of computer graphics so everyone can make it.
Your artworks look like real paintings. Can you tell us how to get that look?
My works are in fact painted photomanipulations. Photoshop has endless possibilities, so I often improvise by creating a new work.
What do you think of the new generation of photomanipulators and their art?
I think that here on dA are many talented artists creating photomanipulations. Art is a reflection of the thoughts and emotions of the author. My friends and community on dA are very creative.
Let’s talk about a few artworks of yours. First this one:
How did you achieve the scattered effect in this one?
In 'Darkness' to achieve that effect, I've used the brush as an eraser and then with the same brush I painted the details.
The next one is this:
You are great in putting the right atmosphere into your arts. Can you give us tips on how to do that?
As for the atmosphere in 'The Light of the Darkness' well... it depends on the artist's imagination. Usually I have the whole picture in my head and I try to realize it.
Last one:
Many of your creations have a magical lighting. How do you do that? Any advice?
Beautiful light can be obtained in many ways with Photoshop. Usually I paint light on a new layer with blending mode 'overlay' or bright colors with a palette.
Here are a few other of her artworks for you to enjoy:
Thank you so much for this great interview, Sylwia. You are great!! <3
