Since you asked...Thank you to *XilaPhoenixArt, =CamaroGirl666, `ginkgografix, ^Aeirmid, ^PirateLotus-Stock, *astrangeallure, ~natash29, *Lou-in-Canada and ~ZRobert for the interesting and funny questions This was harder than I thought - so please excuse the lateness *XilaPhoenixArt: How do you deal with stress situations?Depends on the situation I guess. If it's meeting a deadline at work, I have found that panic solves nothing. It will rather keep you from doing your work properly and you'll end up fixing things right and left later. So, try to keep calm and do one thing at a time. If you're afraid you might forget something, make a list and start with whatever is most important. Everything else will have to wait and the world will not fall to pieces if you're a day late (once). If the situation is having to do something that makes me nervous (like giving a presentation in front of lots of people or going s
Goodbye? Not yet!Hi you all!How are you? I know the title is a bit drastic but it's what is almost happening. I am not feeling comfortable anymore on this platform. Every day I have tons of notifications and I really can't keep up to comment, answer or fave everything. I feel like 'omg I have to go on dA and comment and fave...'. I know this is the feeling of many other artists here. That's why I have to change my behaviour. I know it's always a pleasure to receive comments on our deviations but I also think if they're not real critics they are useless. I am also used to write random comments like 'beautiful', 'amazing'... and this is what I really think! But it doesn't help an artist to grow in my opinion. So, from now on, I will only fave your works if I like them and you can do the same with me. I will disable comments on my pieces. If you like them fave them, if not move on! I will keep up to do features, suggest DDs but I really have to reduce my activity here.I hope you all understand! I know a

Since you asked . . .Welcome!Welcome to my mind! The following questions are derived from inquiries I receive all the time as a CV and as an artist in the photomanipulation community. The questions also came from a couple of "Ask me anything!" polls. I didn't realize that I had so much to say until I sat down and wrote it out. I hope you enjoy my story.First, why photomanipulation? Why not digital painting or traditional drawing?I don't know how to explain my love for photomanipulation, really. It is like taking reality and making it more serene, more surreal. More fantastic. I really love that you are taking a piece of life (photos) and making it into something larger than life, if that makes sense! Also, while it helps to be a great painter or drawer, you don't have to be as precise necessarily when you do photomanipulation; you bring out details that are already there in a lot of cases. Does that mean it is easier? No, I don't thin

Interview with XilaPhoenixArt1.First, please tell us something about you!I'm Vicky, a Belgian 38 years old married woman with two dogs that are like children to us. Since over 12 years I can't go work anymore because of my Fibromyalgia, so I have plenty of time to focuss on art. I also love reading fantasy books and watch fantasy movies... did I already mention that I love fantasy? Because my daily reality is often very hard, I search for distraction in different fantasy worlds. I very much enjoy spend time with my hubby: sitting outside, have a drink and so on.2. When do you discover your passion for art? And what is your motivation making art?I think I was born with art in my heart. Since very young age I didn't want to do anything else than drawing and painting. I also followed art school wich helped me a lot. As a young adult I made oil painting as a hobby. So the passion for art is a red line through my whole life. Later I found out about Paint Shop Pro and I became a tagger, focussed on a
The dA commUNIty and YouThe dA commUNIty and YouWhen first stumbling upon deviantArt, whether 5 months or 5 years ago, we decided to join because we wanted to share our art. We wanted our work to be seen, to be appreciated, to be understood. However, it can be a long and difficult journey from obscurity into the spotlight. Many newcomers and even long-time deviants are sometimes overwhelmed and discouraged by a seeming lack of interest and/or exposure for their work. After all, that's what dA is for, right? Not necessarily - the answer to that question is a bit more involved than a simple "yes" or "no".Society in general has become used to instant gratification. Want the new album by your favorite artist? With the click of a mouse, you've got it! Need to get in touch with your cousin who's moved to Italy? It's easy -- just Skype! The college you want to attend is across the country? No problem, they offer online courses! You may be wondering how this is relevant to dA. Well,
Photomanip News and Feature - 09 SeptOur photomanipulation community rocks.Hello, dA!I am excited to share with you some of the exciting things going on in the photomanipulation community. There are many, many ways to get involved-- and I hope you will! The thing about belonging to a community is that it's kind-of like a team, and we sink or swim together. Let's get started! In this issue . . .Important advisory regarding PremadesPlease welcome . . . Creative ChallengesPhotomanipulation MonthGallery UpdatesHalloweenContestsIn other news . . .FeatureIMPORTANT: Regarding PremadesThere has been a lot of talk recently-- a LOT of talk-- about premades and what is and is not permissible to use for stock. I've had a lot of people ask me to write articles about it, but really I have been writing them for a couple of months now (see my previous journals and news articles). Moreover, I think that there have been some really wond
